Spanish-American War

This political cartoon is on the Spanish-American War. In this picture what gives it away that it is a political cartoon that the section that Roosevelt is the carribean or the territories we earn from the war. The cartoonist message is that Rooseveltt dragged along alot of debt and tacx trains to those few countries; this is taking literally inthe cartoon beccause it shows him pulling a train of ships. A person could also see this as a punishment to those few countries for somedisaster. this consperecy can be justified by the example of it is those few countries he is around and he is seen upset. The author of this perticular cartoon seems to have used labeling and some exaggeration. labeling  can be seen on each of the ends of the ships for differennt reasons he asked for money, the stick he is carring is also labeled "big stick", and finally the region he is in is label the carribean. Using ccommon since we can tell that roosevelt is not accutally that tall and that he did ot really drag a train of ships around so this is exaggeration.  This cartoon does support my opinion because it makes imperialism appeal bad.
