Panama Canal

This political cartoon is on the topic of the Panama Canal. This is obvious for the words "Panama Canal Project" are written on a box that the elephant is carring upon his back. the Message is that Roosvelt backs the idea of the canal. You can infer this because Uncle Sam in the back says "the right man is behind it" meaning that because the president is behind it must be right. A new therory could be that Roosevelt is forcing it. I can see this other therory because Roosevelt appears to be pushing the elephant down the hill. Some of the techniques this cartoonsit used are exaggeration and analogy. the exaggeration comes true because Roosevelt didn't actually push an elephant to get the Panama Canal Project going. An anology is present because they are comparing the Project to the elephant. This sides with my opinion because it gives a negitive connotaion on imperialism.
