Panama Canal

This cartoon is on the Panama Canal. Teddy Roosevelt is clearly seen caarring a bag with millions for a canal, it symbolies the amount of money for the building of the canal.  The cartoonist seems to be against the idea of imperialism. I say this because we can see Teddy Roosevelt holding back Columbia. Another person could imagine this still negative, but america stealing the money. The cartoonist used labeling as a technique. the bag roosevelt carried is labeled money for a canal. There is also irony present you would expect columbia to help get America the land, but instead America had to hold columbia back to get that land. This cartoon is against my idea of my view of imperialsim.
